Fascinated, I watched as the last cane was pulled from the earth. There was a moment of collected silence. Then all at once in unity they began pouring sugar in to large barrels as they chanted to the heavens and within moments the barrels were full of the finest rum. The crowd erupted in cheers of joy as the liquid celebration began!
